spare tire/jack assembly if you have 24 hr road side assistance.

also if you dont like passengers you could always take out the rear seats/seatbelts

you can loose significant weight unless you do major weight reduction...just the basic's and you might get 100 total lbs out of it but not much more. remove the front sway bar for track use but put it back on ASAP cause your handleing goes out the window when you take it off.

The brace on the bottom of the spare tire well. as well as the cage around the fuel tank if your really looking to shave pounds.

good call, lightweight hood and rims all together you might save close to 100-150 pounds

here's what i've done....

- pulled y-brace (-13 pounds)
- pulled jack/spare (-30 or 35 pounds)
- lightweight holden skidplate (-12 pounds)
- longtubes in place of manifolds (-10 or 15 pounds or)
- boyd wheels (-30 pounds total)

I've saved a shade under 100 pounds so far.

If you really want to shave weight, replace all the glass with lexan/polycarbonate. Also maybe switch the steel hood to carbon fiber. Also, ditch the mufflers and resonators for straight pipe. The pipe will weigh less.

I don't think i'd do that on a streetcar.....

I wouldn't go to that extreme either, but the guy did ask how to get rid of weight. There aren't a lot of good options on the gto, without gutting it beyond streetability.

well....true enough....;)

If you don't miss the rear seats, a seat delete will chop out another 40 or 50 pounds (with the belts)

I'll probably do that sooner or later...nobody sits in the back of my car.

I donno though if it's a good idea to take off so meny wight from the back... is it?... i guess a CF eng. components and covers would be a good idea... (daily drive)

plastic is just as light as the carbon stuff in most cases. also I'm not sure you'll shave alot on these cars with a hood swap. Really and truly if your wanting to really cut it the front seats are very heavy.

Good list! The skidplate under the front end can really be ditched all together. F Body's don't have it, and I don't see anything hanging low on the GTO that really requires it, unless you're into jumping train tracks... Bob

This battery will remove weight, as it is considerably lighter. Taking weight off the front end really helps finding traction for the rear tires. Bob

All the pounds you trim out wont even equal up to one big guy in the passenger seat, so is it really worth it?

it's always worth it....

100 pounds = a free tenth off your ET.

even more importantly, every OUNCE you take off the car is easier on parts....

X2. :judge: I gained 10 lbs this winter. Im about ready to find an anorexic midget who can shift...

id also say, race with half tank of gas or less
gut the truck
pull the ugly engine covers off
lighter wheels, with helium in the tires. lol
