Manual Transmission - Do I need to do teh Drill Mod for an 02?

I heard my hydraulics are updated and I dont need the drill mod. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me??

they did update the clutch master cylinder for the '01 model year, but it still wouldn't hurt to do the drill mod

The hydraulics were indeed updated in 2001, but that did not include the drill mod. I'd recommend doing it if you already have the hydraulics out and in hand. If it is already installed, I'd roll with it and see how it does. Mine responded to having the drill mod done in a positive way (easier high RPM shifting).

i just did drill mod this past weekend, definite improvement in shifting 1-2 & 2-3, definitely recommend

how hard is it to do???? and how long does it take??

it's not that hard, it's just a pain in the ass... and time consuming. i hate working upsidedown under the dash with a seat in the middle of my back with hardly any light.

i get a little angry.

you definately need a helping hand to get it all back together. someone just needs to hold the u-bolt in place from the firewall while you're under the dash bolting it up.

then you need to re-fill and bleed the whole system.

Getting situated to work up under the dash is the hardest part...I took the driver's side seat out to make it easier (it was a good idea). I was able to do the entire thing myself without much of an issue, but I took an afternoon to do it.
