Trouble getting into third?

Trouble getting into third? I was driving a friends car tonight and it seems to have a problem getting into third some of the time it will go smooth and others you will have to push pretty hard to get it to engage and not kick back out. Any ideas?

Is this the problem where it gets stuck 1/2 way going into third? Cuz my car does the same thing, but I think it might be due to a bad master cylinder and dragging clutch.

My bro had that problem..
if its having trouble going into 3rd
go to 1st than 2nd than 4th and than down shift to 3rd...
say if 4th is bad go to 5th than down to 4th....
try it....
