I would like some recomendations for a clutch for sure. And possibly flywheel...
I have a 2000 trans am ws6 M6. Mods are just bolt ones with 373 gears. I plan on cam and possibly heads in spring and more down the line. I would like something capable of ~450whp but is good for street drivablity and liability with occasional track usauge.
What is your thought on ls7 and stage 3s. Im open to all opinions though.

SDPC has a great deal on the LS7 clutch and flywheel combo right now, 439.95 shipped. I just ordered it myself. Rated at 550hp with great street manners.....can't argue with that.

For a budget build up, I'd agree you'd be happy with the LS7 clutch kit we have on special!

For a slightly more aggressive clutch setup, that will handle a bit more abuse down the road if/when you upgrade and get some more power, the Textralia OZ700 would be a good choice! Thats the clutch I wanted. But, most people don't have that kind of money for a clutch. I would have went with a steel flywheel though.

Therefore my vote still stays with the Ram PGHD

I've been hearing that you get what you pay for.

After 4 Spec3's and knowing I'll have my car for a long time. I'm willing to take the chances.

RAM HD 400.00 + RAM Steel flywheel 250.00? = $750.00

Text OZ700 clutch + Text Steel flywheel = $970.00

I just don't understand how someone can afford a new clutch setup and think that there is a lot more money going into a Textralia setup.

I'd vote for the one that doesn't get the stock clutch pedal to stick to the floor during hard acceleration.

I've been hearing guys say who had that pedal sticking situation that the stock hydralyics and the textrella was their cure..

I have had two ls6 clutch assemblys and one ls7 clutch assembly..along with ls6 hydralyics replaced and I still have the occasional pedal sticking issue.

its a real pain in the butt so next time I'm going to try textrella setup..

I'm going to cover the lines with 3/8ths fuel line and heat wrap...

I'm going to install a clutch pedal stop as well.

Hopefully that will do the trick...

Good luck in whatever you decide but I believe the clutch assembly is a place to spend money because once you get on the pedal sticking train its hard to get off..

Have assembly balanced properly before install as well.

I never did the work myself but this issues a pia.(if you have it_down the road you'll know what I'm talking about...)

LS7 clutch is heavy. Weights not your friend in rotational mass.

Always help to stop the problem and not blame the clutch. Everyone seems to blam the clutch, but the clutch is holding just fine it the hydralics that are causeing the problem and not releasing. I think everyone that has this problem has headers also or the problem started after installing headers.
Sorry read to many post of people bitching and blaming the clutch every time then replaceing it multiple times and still have the same problem.

I would say a textrilia. I have the LS7, and it is a gret street clutch for that amount of power, but as soon as you want to put some tires on it and go to the track. You are going to hate yourself.

That is exactly what he is saying. You dont need a Billet flywheel, how high are you going to spin your engine?? 7k? The stock flywheel will be just fine

From what I understood you might get away with resurfacing the stock flywheel only once. Am I wrong?

Negative... kinda but not really. Let me elaborate.

The method of crosshatching the flywheel is basically taking sandpaper and cleaning up the surface of the flywheel by hand (with a grinder). This eliminates "hotspots & rough surface areas".

By doing this, you allow for a real nice clutch engagement. Just like stock in my case with the RAM Powergrip HD.

This is because when you crosshatch the flywheel you take off NO MATERIAL. Therefore, you don't have to go through the big headacke of finding the correct shim in order to compensate for a resurfaced flywheel.

I learned this technique from a member here that swore by it. I tryed it and was absolutley pleased 100%. There is a major shop here in town that also does this method. He informed me that almost all flywheels can be done this way unless they are too bad off and have to be resurfaced. He also told me that he hasn't had to resurface a flywheel in over 3 years.
