Default Tru-Trac for 7.5"

I was at Summit last night trying to buy a Tru-trac for my factory 10 bolt in the Trans Am. The only one listed was for a 7.5" 10 bolt and the summit guy said it wouldn't fit. I told him it would and he argued with me blah blah blah.

Anyway, bottom line.........will the tru-trac for the GM 7.5" ring gear 10 bolt fit in my 7.625" 10 bolt? If so I'm gonna order it up today!!

I don't know how much the True-Trac is but you might
want to consider the T2R Torsen as an alternative if
you're more road than strip oriented. It's a bit pricey
but a good performer and well stouter than stock.

Well Summit has the Trutrac for $365 which is sweet!! I've heard nothing but good things about them so figured I give it a shot.

Yes, the T2R has more bias than the True Trac, but the T-T case/internals are stronger. Like you said, what one plans to do with it determines the "compromise" made. Even Sam Strano is looking into the True Tracs. Maybe he can even convince Eaton-Detroit to increase the bias to (or greater than) T2R levels!?

Thanks Bob. I've always heard you guys had great customer service which is why I called you Friday. I'm gonna go ahead and order the darn thing and see if it fits. Guess I can always return it if it doesn't.

If you car has the 3 chanel ABS system your stock ABS ring will not fit over the pilot on the case. You best bet is to go with a T2R or an Eaton.

P.S. you can modify the ABS to slide over the case but it will need to be machined with a press fit.

What if I do not care about ABS. Will it work?

Edit:

I called Eaton, I was told the 7.5 truetrac will work in the 7.625 rear ends. I gave this link to the tech person i talked to. Maybe he'll chime in and explain....
