For now I was thinking of getting the 330 HP GMPP 350 that has the Vortec heads and a hydraulic flat tappet cam with 212/222 @ .050 with a 112 lobe separtion. Then as soon as I can afford it slapping on the Weiand 142 blower with 6-7 psi. The motor is at 9.0:1 compression ratio, so it should be fine with high octane pump gas. I may have to run the total advance a little lower since I live in an oven(Phoenix).

Opinions?

Anyone have the 330HP motor?

i've got the 330hp gmpp motor you're talkin about. Runs real nice for an inexpensive new crate motor. Mine's bone stock with a p1sc procharger and 8lbs of boost in my 92rs camaro. Cant go much higher on the boost level with the stock cast pistons, but its been living fine right where it is. Buy the cheaper version of this motor without the distributor or carb as they will need to be upgraded anyway. the carb that comes with it didn't work well for me no matter how i tuned it when the motor was under 160degrees and you're going to want secondaries with jets not holleys silly metering plate.

What kinda power are you making? Hows it run? I have the same motor also and need a like more guts

Funny how quickly you get used to a given power level. 305tbi w/ 170hp = two weeks before I was sick of weak ass burnouts. 350ho w/330hp= about a year procharged 350 w/500hp= going on 6 months and yes it could use more power but I've gotta save to forge the internals and get some better breathing heads then 800hp is the next goal. The motor responded beautifully to procharger's p1sc carburated chevy kit. Check out bob at EPP for a great deal. The only downside is the horrible gas mileage. 7, 8mpg when I'm lucky. The first two gears of my t-56 w/ 3.23 rear gears are very traction limited w/ street tires but the motor keeps pulling nicely in third and fourth. If i had to do it all over again I would use a junkyard block- throw in low compression fully forged internals and a blower cam and crank the boost up to around 15# with aluminum heads. For what it is though 500hp for about $6000 it not too shabby. The horrible gas milage has to do in some part to me tuning the carb on the very rich side to avoid detonation at all costs. I really don't want to crack these hypereutectic pistons.
