Default Wow! First Highway Drive Last Night

I introduced myself on the boards last month when I got my first LS1 and this week I finally got it back from the shop (it's a salvage car I got off ebay). Anyway, I didn't see a lounge to put this post in and just had to share my awe.

My drive to work everyday is just on two lane, no passing roads most of the way -- speed limit peaks at 40 or under. Last night I took a drive on 2-70 just after midnight and figured it would be safe to open her up a bit...OMG! I thought my Z28 was fast -- there's no contest. I got off the off ramp doing about 70, by the time I hit 6th gear I was doing 100 mph and it felt like I was doing 40. Never rev'd over 3500 rpms -- I think my first mod is going to be a radar detector!

True that! 6000 in 3rd gear is just over 100mph...

Let that puppy sing!

Thanks for the encouragement! At 100 I hit the brakes to slow her down -- too many officers on 2-70 and I already have two speeding tickets in the past three years...the last one was after I put a 410 rear, posi, new ignition coil, plugs and wires, and a new distributor in my Z28 -- my speedo was way off because of the gears, got tagged doing 52 in a 35 (ticket said 39, thanks to a nice officer -- although he could've been a little nicer and not given me a ticket at all, lol). I showed him my invoice from the day before for all the work and still got a ticket. He said I should still be able to tell the difference between 52 and 35 --I felt like I was crawling, lol.

Anyway -- I'm going to have to be very careful in this car or I'll be at traffic school...urgh!

Yeah, I know -- I paid the ticket. I was speeding and deserved a ticket, was just hoping my excuse (a legitimate one) would get me a warning. I just don't need anymore tickets.
