Oil Pressure Question My oil pressure in my 383 LS1 (Eagle 4" Crank, Scat 6.125" H-Beams, Mahle -6cc Pistons) has always been slightly lower than my old 5.3. I've got a FMS ported LS6 oil pump that was put on when the motor was built. I used the Blue rubber O-ring on the oil pump/pick-up tube.
The pressure is normal during cold starts. When it warms up to normal after about 5-10 minutes, it stays right at about 40psi. After riding around town it usually stays about a hair under 40psi. I've checked the oil during this and it's in the cross-hatches. I usually top it off to almost the very top of the cross-hatches and it doesn't make a difference. I'm using 10W-30 Royal Purple. When I was using Rotella T 15W-40 during break-in for the first 1000 miles, it was a little bit higher and stayed right at 40psi at idle, maybe a hair more.
Is this normal for stroked motors? Or is something wrong? Or just don't worry about it? Thanks!
