what choices do i have for a no restriction muffler on a t91 street/race car that will have full exhaust out the back? Its 5in just past the k-frame and i will step down to 4in out the back. I have a very lopy cam and want the car to be as quiet as possible with out any real performance loss. Are some of the high dollar muffs like borla any quieter, or just better constructed? What are some of you big turbo guys using?

I am going to run an 18" bullet on the I section location, and a 22" magnaflow in the stock location. My DP is 4" (with a cut-out) and will break down to 3" to stay extra quiet after the cutout!

I am going to run a full 4 inch down pipe and exhaust on my PT88 setup. No stepping down for me.

I would use a stock catback and a cutout. I had this on my street car it would be very quiet to drive around and made alot of hp with it open.

i dont think you will find a quiet 4" muffler.
the way i have mine its 4" off the turbo, then to a 4" bullet style muffler, thenn steps down to 3" and goes over the axle to a 3" catback. in race mode i have the 3" sections removed, or might put a 4" electric cutout later, then in quiet srteet mode it goes to the 3" catback

My 4" Dynomax bullets rattles the china in my house. I've got a Splitflow muffler in the box. I might put the bullet upstream and keep it, and run both. We'll see.

Just the way I have mine, except my bullet will be 3" and after the cut out. No point in running 4" when you are putting around town. It will be nice to have a single digit car that sounds stock when the cut-out is closed. Then open her up and.....BAMN, 4" of flow and loud as F***.

Only down fall is the extra weight of 2 rather large mufflers and the over the axle piping weight. **** it......nothing 20 psi won't over come

PSJ, how far back is your exhaust run? I plan to run my 4 inch exhaust back to the axle and dump it. I dont mind a loud exhaust being its not my daily driver by any means. I just dont want Johnny Law giving me a load of crap everytime I come out eigther.

I had a 3.5" DP that went back to my axle, with a borla XR-1 muffler.....and it was LOUD AS HELL still. 4" with any decent flowing exhaust will still be loud as hell.

We can get away with alot in Bowling Green. I am looking for as little back pressure as possible after the turbo. I am definatley going with the 4 inch to at least the axle. I thought about going over the axle all the way to the back of the car. Who knows. I have been around alot of 4 inch Mufflex cars that were loud but not unbearable in my opinion.

That pic was my old 3.5" set-up. My new 4"/3" set-up will be over the k-member and should tuck a little nicer.

And wikedred......the longer you have the 4" pipe, the more back pressure it will create. You should just put a cut-out right after the k-member on the 4" section, and then break it down to a 3" that runs to your muffler. Or whatever you want I guess, lol!

I already have all the 4 inch pipe and 16 inch long 4 inch in/out dynomax bullet. Hell I was going to just dump the 4 in down pipe right off the turbo. You know, an entire 2ft worth of exhaust. Thats a little extreme for the street though.I may out a 4 inch cut out in there righ past the k-member. Un cap it at the track for that little extra, but it's all gonna be 4 inch anyhow.

We swapped out the 4" Dynomax bullet for the 4" Splitflow, it's still pretty loud though it sounds deeper and a little more refined. I'll take a vid when we go to the track.

Looking at pics of NA$TY-TA's setup, he is doing the same, 4" DP to a bullet and dumps before the axle, clean and simple. Is a cutout really neccesary with a 4" system like that?

The 4" Spintech is made of very thick steel and is very heavy but does cut the noise down pretty good.

i run 4" all the way out, with 2 bullets. one in the CAT area, and one right before the axle (on the GN) and its very quiet. i drive it all the time, sounds really good too. just remember the longer the tailpipe after the muffler, the queter it will be.

I shortened the exhaust for now, the muffler is under the passenger side floorboard in that hump area.

I run a mufflex 4in all the way out the back just like stock and it even bolts up to the stock brackets...it's not loud at all until you stand on it...

I dont see a need for a cut-out..... a bullet muffler really isnt even a muffler.....
It just has some baffles in it to stop some sounds waves.....
I live with mine even though its loud..... if ya want it quieter then run it all the way out the back...... i could see then maybe a cut-out could be used....
