Looks like it to me.

IIRC, the holes are a different shape on the '01-'02 plate.

Yes. The newer ones are (were once?) called the "Mr. Peanut" flexplates, because that's what the holes look like...

shoot, I just bought one off here labeled as a 98. But its really the peanut one though.
For some reason I have a 98 style on my 2000.

That's normal.

The '98-'00 plate is all the same. It's only the '01+ that get the weaker peanut style.

I'm trying to find a New GM LS2 Flexplate and I'm getting two separate Part numbers on a 2004 GTO search at gmpartsdirect
12563136 and 12580709, anyone know which one is the LS2 style?

I;m guessing the 12580709 is the later plate and they stopped making the peanut style.....
