Default Easiest wayto track down a vacuum leak?

What is the easiest way to track down a vacuum leak on my car?

Finally got some time and some down time with my car and I think I have a vacuum leak somewhere on the car but not sure how to locate it or find out if I have one at all.

Thanks

Listen for the hissing sounds or spray carb cleaner from place to place and when the rpms flutter thats the leak spot.

With the motor off, grab a buddy that is a smoker. crack the throttle and stick a hose inside the TB, and tape it off. Have smoker buddy blow smoke into the engine. Watch for it. Of course do this in a non-windy and well lit area

yup yup slow67 is right, it's faster and easier to look for a cloud of smoke than trying to hear for a hiss. they also make a smoke machine just for this kind of problem.... but watching a buddy trying to blow for very long is funnier/y lol

A small propane cylinder, open and unlit with the car running. The water or carb cleaner also works well.

How's that going to work? The bubbles would be on the inside.

Find a shop with a smoke machine and have them smoke test your engine. My fathers shop has one and it works great.

After reading his post I really thought he was joking until you said that. Thats a pretty slick way of checking.

I think the quick and cheap way is the use a can of spray carb cleaner.. spray a little (enough to soak the area) around each of the vacumn area that you suspect to be a leak.. if the RPM change.. you found your leak. PCV, Power Break line, intake manifold, TB Gasket ... etc..

This is an old trick that is used for Carb cars but work for EFI too.. been used as long as I can remember.
