Default Rear axle back brace?

I'm getting ready to put in a Moser 9", but now I'm wondering if I should have ordered the housing with a back brace. Has anyone tweaked their Moser housing w/o one?

How much power are you putting down?

Just purchased the car recently, so I couldn't tell you. It has a forged bottom end (6.0 iron block), big cam, headers, street twin clutch and so on.

As it sits, I'm fairly confident the rear would be fine without the brace, but this is strictly a weekend toy and will get more parts and possibly a power adder down the road.

Ideally I'd like to hear some hard data points of people tweaking their Moser 9" housings and what kind of power they were putting down.

I would say anything running faster that 9.50's would require a backbrace. I have gone high 8's on an old school Moser housing and the tubes are still straight.

its not needed but I had it put on mine just to be safe, for all that they charged me to do it it was well worth it.
