Street Racing & Kill Stories - 03 Cobra vrs 99 viper

decided to take the snake out today and pick up some movies from block buster...

On my way home LOW AND BEHOLD I spot another snake in the grass..And it's a black cobra..

He throws me a nice sounding rev and I return with an hiss of my own. He then hits his Hazards and sticks his hand out the window and tells me to follow him. I knew were he was going before we even got there LOL..

THE FREEWAY...

Well I wont lie to you guys...Besides the time I crossed paths with a red C6Z06 I havent been to intimidated by any cars ive seen on the street. But a black Cobra can EASILY have 500 rwhp and put me in my place. Honestly I got a little worried that I may loose.

He punches it before i even had time to get in the opposite lane...I dont even try and let him take off..After a few seconds he realizes I never went and slows down and comes back to the next lane right beside me...

I stick out my hand showing three fingers so he understands i want to go on the 3 beep..I honk the horn once and the guy just takes off again. By this time weve already went a few miles out of my way and Im getting frustrated..HEY IF I MIGHT LOOSE IM GONNA ATLEASTE HAVE A FAIR START

So now Im on to him and as soon as were side by side again doing 50 mph I beep once and then hit it..All through my second gear were side by side and then when I hit third gear I start pulling him pretty good...By the time i shut down in fourth gear at around 140 mph he is a solid 8-10 cars back..

We go again and this time he beeps...Pretty much the same out come...But with him only 6-8 cars back this time...

We go one more time from a 70 mph roll with me already in third gear and this time he stays pretty close till I hit fourth gear and finish up around 130 mph a good 5-6 cars in front of him...

he takes an exit and motions for me to follow him..We both exit and he pulls into a Gas station.. He's a pretty kool guy and REALLY excited about the runs we just had!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He tells me he has some exhaust work and still the stock pully and dynoed 382 rwhp..Then he says man you must be really modded pretty good!!!????

I then tell him no all i have is intake and no cats..He looks at me pretty puzzled and says no way man your pulling my leg..Then i try to convince him that im not...

He then says that my car only has 400 HP for the rt10's and that intake and no cats aint gonna pull no exhaust having Cobra like that LOL...

Suddennly it all made since to me and I explained that my car was a 99 and had the 450 HP engine and with my intake and no cats put down 428 rwhp on the dyno..He apologized if he had made me think that he was calling me a liar and told me sorry cas he didnt know that the rt10's had the GTS engine LOL....

Well it was an awesome couple runs and he told me to watch out cas next time his snake will have more bite with a pully swap...

With my current 428 rwhp and his current 382 rwhp..How close will the runs be after his pully swap? Will he be able to take me? I better hurry up and mod some more LOL

Good kill! The Vipers are a little lighter and on top of that you had another 50whp or so on him, effectively about 80whp advantage to you.

With his pulley swap and tune it should be a LOT closer!

Sweeet kill, if you put 6-8 cars on him a pulley will not make up that kinda room lol. They help but not that much. Maybe a ported blower with meth. might do it but not just a pulley.

Yeah, but intake/pulley/tune probably would...

He already has exhaust. And for a pulley, you have to have a tune (for a small enough pulley). And it would stupid of him to have a pulley and not an intake. With a pulley, tune, exhaust, and intake, Cobra's usually put down between 440-475 RWHP, 470-495 RWTQ. And these are the MOST BASIC Cobra mods assuming he doesn't swap the lower out. If he added a lower pulley, he'd get more power and A LOT more TQ. So it would be a hell of a lot closer than 6-8 cars! I can't give a better estimate because I don't know anything about Vipers.

Your car is pretty light. Especially compared to a Cobra. With your power, I think it would be a close race then. Really close. Probably even a drivers race. .. But that's a guestimate.

On my old 03 cobra i dyno'ed 430rwhp/411rwt with just CAI,magnaflow catback, and 3.1" pulley without a tune. Of course you run him a few times, heat soak will be his enemy! :drive:

Damn, good kill. I wont lie either, I get scared when I pull up next to Cobras and Vipers. Modding potential on these cars are insane.

For me the only cars that strike fear in my heart are Vipers/Cobras/Z06's/Supras

The rest of the cars need LOTS of money to even run dead even and the Exotic/super exotic crowd is rarely modified

Nice Kill man! And yea im scared of cobras too but its cuz i know thye will smoke me and if they are really modded they will just make me feel REALLY stupid :)

I didnt mention fbodys cas they need a LOT of mods to have big rwhp of 450 plus...Needs a pretty strong mod list to have me a little scared LOL...
