Default best initial mods?

Hey guys, I'm wondering what the best initial mods would be for a stock Pontiac GTO LS2. Is it heads and cams or is it different for the LS2s than the LS1s? I love the constant torque of the LS motors, they're awesome. I would love to get one and I'm looking into it. I was going to get a used LS1 camaro but I want something low miles. A GTO is sleeper as hell. The GTO is amazing.
TIA.

Start with Headers, cold air intake, and a tune (Kooks or SW for damn good stainless steel headers, then slp if you want em, lastly the pacesetters as they are not stainless and will not last forever). Volant for the CAI or the ORTCAI systems that are coming out.

Next step add heads, ported manifold, ported TB, cam, and a retune (or the L76/L92 kit with cam and a tune).

Note: the stock cat back system on 05/06 is dual 2 1/2" exhaust with decent mufflers (which is better then most car's from the factory).

Last (if you want more sound) do a cat back system with an X pipe or H pipe.
I went overkill with the Stainless Work full dual 3" setup on mine

For more specific's on your goat and how to mod it go over to ls1gto.com and start reading. Everything from how to reduce the vehicle weight to what parts are good choices and which parts are not so good...

If I were to do it all over again. I would not have wasted the money on a CAI. I would have done the Hardcore or similar setup and spent the money on the GMM Ripshift. I also would have done the LT's, cam and heads all at once and saved a ton of money on tuning. Then DR's and Drag bags.

Full exhaust! LS2's get so much power for just a little modding. And they make excellent track times!

The GTO has a pretty good exhaust system from the factory. I chose to just replace the resonator with an x-pipe and mufflers. Much cheaper than a complete cat back.
