I need to do the same thing for both of my doors. It's not supposed to be that difficult. I'm trying to find you the how-to...stay tuned.

Your motor is probably shot, so what I would do is replace motor THEN install this kit I believe autozone sells window motors for our rides for like $50 w/ a lifetime warranty to go along with it.

Yes, the rivits need to be drilled out....I think the new motor should come with nuts & bolts to replace the rivits....I would double check though to make sure they do.

I got my motor from Autozone like miamifan3413 said for like 50 bucks. And ya you need to drill out the rivets, but make sure you don't drill out the wrong ones. I drilled out a few to many and the whole window assembly fell apart inside the door.... lets just say it took a little longer than it should have to install the motor!!

I'd also look at Ebay as well. I was searching there and found some for as little as $25 new. These are also better than OEM motors.

i can't remember if they did or not. Even if they don't, they'll last three times as long as GM's. You won't have to worry about replacing it again for another 20 years. I know there were multiple suppliers when I was looking at them. Check them out.

I don't know about 20 years...I've had a replacement in for about 2 or 3 years, and it is starting to crap out on me again. My passenger side window is fine...the driver's side seems to keep eating them.

I don't understand the thinking behind this post Any smart person would get the window motors from their local autozone with the LIFETIME warranty for convienence reasons....stated in above post:" You won't have to worry about replacing it again for another 20 years. " Just doesn't sound factual to me....with window motors IMO, I think you have to have a proactive approach just in case the motor fails again you can simply take it back & get another one instead of messing around through the mail with an ebay company.

Well, 20 years I thought would be picked up as an obvious exaggeration. Like I said, I can't remember if they had a lifetime warranty or not. If you get the OEM motor, you'll have to get the lifetime warranty because it is going to die on you sooner. They're crappy motors. It's definitely worth taking 2 minutes to look up on Ebay though.

FWIW, I've got a 97 'bird and just got 2 reman motors from rockauto.com for around $82 (shipping included). They are Cardone (the same ones Autozone has) with LLT. I figured if the DS is going, I might as well replace them both. I'm waiting on the new speakers to come in before I do the replacement. I don't feel like pulling the door panels off more than once.

$50 with a lifetime warranty from Autozone is a much better deal IMO.

When it ***** out again just take it out, bring it up to Autozone, get the new one, and put it back in. 1-2-3 and your done.

What brand motor did you buy that's going out on you already?
