Default Recommendation- MAF/Air Cleaner, etc.

I have a 2004 Corvette engine I'm puttin gin my '56.

I do not have a MAF, Looking in the S&P Catalog, I see numerous things, such as:
  • MAF Adapter to TB
  • Elobow for a 5 pin MAF
  • Elbow for a 3 pin MAF
  • A Natural LS-1 Mass Air Flow w/Adapter $170
  • LSl 5 Pin Mass Air Flow Unit $195
  • LS 5 Pin Mass Air Flow Adapter Pig Tail $24.50

Lordie. I don't know what all I need. I am thinking I do want to do the 90 degree elbow.

I"m also thinking that if I purchas all I need on that stuff from S&P, I'll spend quite a bit more than I need to. I do like doing business with them, but they are expensive, and I'm trying to limit it to things that they specialize in. I consider MAF more of a commodity type thing.

Anyway, can anyone suggest what I need to purchase. I can then search out best pricing, etc. (I'm sure S&P can answer those questions, but if I'm going to purchase elsewhere, I don't want to ask them.

Thanks

You might be able to do something like I did and just make your own.

First try to find a stock 04 Vette MAF,
90 elbow - 4" to 3.5" like the one here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rubbe...QQcmdZViewItem
then some 3.5" aluminum piping like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-x-3...QQcmdZViewItem

and then the filter of your choice.

Put the IAT sensor somewhere inbetween the MAF and filter.

Heres a bad pic. of it.
