Manual Transmission - H/C Combo with approx. 400-420 RWHP Do I replace the stock LS6 Clutch?

I plan on getting a heads/cam combo from TSP. Most likely going to put down 400-420 RWHP. I have 28K on my car. Should I replace the LS6 Clutch while the work is being done? Or can my stocker get by for a while? I will not be using sticky tires. And I have not had any problems with the clutch grabbing. I will be doing the drill mod too.

Thx for any insight.

Yes. I smoked mine and I am putting down 408RWHP through a 12 bolt on ET Streets. It was nice for just normal driving but it didn't like the added power in our heavy cars.

I put about 7k on my LS6 clutch. It didn't mind it when I was putting down 375HP but once I swapped out cams and intake manifold, it didn't like the extra power at the track.

Another vote for the TEXtralia. I would also suggest getting a fresh master cylinder and slave when you do so. I installed my OZ700 somewhere around the 35k mark, put in a new slave, but no master. After the heads/cam this past summer, the car wouldnt shift fast at all til I swapped the master out.

For sure. The LS6 clutch will never hold that horse power with street tires. Much less slicks. I have the Spec 4 clutch. I love it. It is very streetable and holds, like crazy at the track with slicks. Also change the master and slave and do the drill mod.

Mine didn't last very long and it looked horrible when I took it out. What ever you do get a good clutch, and listen to other when cosidering a clutch. You get what you pay for.
