I got an 402 LS2 shortblock, double timing set, all necessary covers, LS7 lifters/guides and bolts, hardened pushrods, Katech sensor harness, ported oil pump, full complete gasket kit including a Cometic head gasket, a set of L92 heads milled to 63ccs w/ upgraded springs to .650 lift, an L76 intake, fuel rails, 40# injectors, 90mm tb and a custom ground cam for my application from SDPC for $7060 shipped to my door. If you plan on installing yourself you are set, I'm having a shop do it for me to save me the headaches. Expect anywhere from $1300-$2300 for an install.
Give Byran at SDPC a call, tell him Mitchell sent you over there. They have the best deals on shortblocks anywhere. 1-800-456-0211. Their website is www.sdparts.com, but you can get a much better idea over the phone.
BTW with an aftermarket shortblock with upgraded connecting rods, forged pistons, etc etc could handle much more than a 100 shot =)

All you will need to complete the motor is to re use your valve covers, oil pan and pickup and rear cover.
How much nitrous can that motor hold? Will it take a 250 shot say 12 times a year if tuned correctly?

fifi fif fi five HUNDRED shot? WTDH What The Dam Hell...LOL
I am trying to hit 9 seconds on spray with a daily driver vette. I know whatever setup you sprayed that on is not a DDriver but that is impressive.
Not to hijack his thread but I am in the market and have 4k now. It seems I should save another 4k then order a long block. I am crossed between the 408 and 402 for driveability as both have been proven to be able to cut 9 seconds in a daily driver vette on a 200 shot. I figurred 250 should make it a little more consistant. I can work the suspension out with no problems and the drivetrain. The 408 weighs more but costs less. Not much less but if the only difference in driveability will be 100 lbs off the nose I dont mind going 408.
2 questions.
1. If I go 408 or 402 is it worth getting the ls2 coil packs?
2. Will it be an easier/cheaper install to upgrade from an LS1 to another aluminum set up? or the same work either way iron 408 or aluminum 402.
I am currently looking L92heads/FASTintake 90/hellfire rings/MLS Head Gasket\ARP studs"thanks sled28" 9 seconds or not I will never spray over a 2 stage 300 shot and I am told this with almost any forged pistons will take 350 all day. I am sure my motor will get at least 480RWHP before the power adder.
I was looking at 4200.00 in the shortblock from SDPC with hellfire rings and forged pistons before this thread.
Keep the prices you guys have found coming. This is a GREAT thread.

Does anyone know if these sponsor built short blocks, such as the ones mentioned from TSP and Miszfit are CNC square decked and align honed? I know these are new blocks, but from what I heard even new blocks can have some major imperfections in deck and main surfaces? I did not see this in any of the descriptions, so curious if they do it or not??
Great thread though!!
