Default tire age?

When you guys store your cars for the winter and do not drive it much how long do you use the tires for as far as years go. I have alot of tread and no dry rot. Tires look good but I just don't drive much.

I live in Fl, so I am not sure how Tennessee weather affects tires, but I think it really depends on the quality of the tire. If there isn't any dry rot I think you will be alright. All I can say is keep an eye on them.

Maybe some one else on here that stores their car a little more can help ya.

Both my "toy" cars are sitting on 4 + year old tires . . . and still look new.

My Dad's Eldorado is on 12 year old tires, now thosea are starting to look a little sad.

Thanks guys. I was just wondering about the safety of old tires. Sounds like I will be okay for a couple more years. Just curious what people do that don't drive them much. Tires aren't cheap these days.

I have a truck that is for show and I only drive like 5,000 miles a year. The tires have age but look great still.

Tires are made of a Petroleum product so they wont last forever. I think after 6 years they start to lose integrity. They do harden after time as they dry out.
The date of manufacture is on the tire. It should be the last 2 digits of the serial number in a circle.
