Back when I was trying to put the CME on my car, I found that the double sided tape didn't hold well enough, so I searched around and found that other CME guys were using 3M Emblem Adhesive. I found the exact product number and tried it and even SLP said that it would work best and would remove very easily if need be.

However, when I took the valence off my car, which never seemed to fit or adhere very well for me, this Emblem Adhesive stuff would not come off. I was told it would simply roll off easily and peel away like that "magazine ad" stretchy glue, but it looks more like dried super glue on my car. So I have a massive, ugly line of dried glue completely around my lower bumper. I was able to break some of it off and the paint is completely fine underneath, but most of the glue had either dried so thin or adhered so well that it seemingly won't come off without sanding and repainting. I'm getting ready to fix up some small things such as this and sell the car, so I was wondering if anyone knew something that might work to get it off. It's not a huge deal, but it is most definitely noticable and I'd like it off.

Any secrets from the detailing or body work guys? Thanks for any help as always!

3m makes a aresol can of adhesive remover, its the only stuff that will work, downside is that its like $25 a can, i bought some for the !sidemolding mod, worked great

+1 on the 3M adhesive remover. It's like $12 a can I think.

rubbing alcohol will work too. its not 12 bucks either

Try using some degreaser (or adhesive remover like Goo Gone) on it first. You might have to do it twice but that should get a fair amount of it off.

If that doesnt work a hair dryer/heat gun could help you scrape it off with a finger nail. Keep it on a low setting and remember that stuff can get hot.

Another option is a claybar. Spray up some clay lube (quick detail spray) and work the claybar like you would on a regular detail.

Then afterwards, throw on a fresh coat of wax and you're done.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I have already tried alcohol and Goo-gone, as well as another (stronger) version of Goo-Gone. Neither of them had any effect on the stuff and I may as well have been usin g water on it.

The normal emblem adhesive that I've always tried to get off on other vehicles and when I've debadged my Z28s has always just taken alot of rubbing and some sort of chemical as you guys mentioned. However, as I said before, this stuff is like hardened superglue. It is seriously rock hard and does not give at all. I also tried a claybar and this stuff just ripped the clay right apart.

damn man i guess u gotta get the heat gun out, and some of the 3m adhesive remover, that should do the trick

I had the same prob man..the heat gun works. Just be careful.
