Default Coolant reservoir cracked.

So my sister pulled up earlier today and said her car ('97 Z28 LT1) was smoking and leaking some fluid. I didn't look at it right away, but when i took a look at it later on it seemed pretty obvious that the car just overheated. I took a look at the liquid on the ground and where it came out of. I'm certainly no expert but it looks like the bottom of the collant resevoir has a massive crack in it which caused all the water and antifreeze to drain out and the car to overheat. Anyone have any experiences with this, or know how much its gonna cost to fix. Also, I figure it would be alright to drive it just a few miles into town, maybe 4-5. Any suggestions?

It's a $34 part from the dealer. All you do is remove the battery, which sits on top, a couple of bolts and it will pop right out. It's not pressurized, so you shouldn't have coolant pouring out when you pull the line that goes into the center.

I just saw you have an LT1, so I'm not sure if what I said applies....
