Autozone - Spring compressor?

Autozone - Spring compressor? I'm going to be putting my springs in tonight and autozone has the rental compressor that looks like a small rectanular C-clamp with a little T bar to lossen tighten it on the top or side however you look at it.
Has anyone used this before? how did it work out for you on the # 8 cylinder?

How did he break a bolt anyway? These dont attach to any bolts.. Are you talking about the one thats a flat peice of steel that you use the rocker bolt holes to srew it in for an ancor? I could see how that one would break a bolt.

i used that one on my spring changes after the first lever type one i bought got bent up. i have only used those two but this one picture worked pretty good for me i thought. and they were single comp 918's, dont know how it would work for dual springs

Dont know how either work, since ive only used the crane tool, but by looking at the first one, i dont think theres any way your going to be able to use it on the #8 cylinder.

I might even still rent that one from autozone to do all of them except the rear ones. I know that tool wont fit back there and this one should easily.

Err.. thats exactly what this tool does. it never touches the spring.

My buddy that's helping me with "Certain things" can get a little ahead of himself at times. He seems to want to ignore what the HOWto guide says to do because he knows a better way!
Maybe thats why his car hasnt touched pavement in about a year

Go to the tool section and search for "Tims tool". It is cheap and very easy to use. The Autozone tool is a PITA to use. Getting the keepers back in can be difficult.
