Default Cuttingout and bareley spooling up!?!? whats the deal?

I jus got everything together on my homemade turbo setup and now the car is sputtering and and puttering.?!? almost didnt think i was going to make it home from work. felt like i had no power. this is before installing my compressor pipe, was still screwwing up when i had jus the elbow and filter on tb. Jus took it around the block and for maybe a sec it got to 5 lbs but is running like crap.I thought i got some bad gas on the way home from work. but stopped and refueled with the same results! It idles rough and jus sputters and barely spools wqith the pedal to the floor. No leaks , but i dont know. The only thing i did earlier in the day was y my x pipe into the turbo. but drove it right after and ran perfect. It seems that it runs like crap most of the time but runs normal some time. Fuel prob? Opti? Some other sensor?

no boost, the stock computer cannot compensate for that much added air. as everyone else said, go and get a tune.

If you are running 8lbs with no tune you are asking for it! Turn boost to zero and make sure the car runs fine (to check nothing has been damaged), then you need to get a tune.

wow.... serious.. no offense... but your not very bright....

Anyone.... anyone at alll!!! who thinks you can mod a car with something
like a turbo and drive it without a tune should have their car taken away from
them and slapped.

let me guess..., you dont have any fuel mods either.... fuel pump? injectors?

the popping is probably the ******* car running lean... your going to blow it up...

LT1edit... Tunercats.... and one other free tuning program are available and they alll SUCK compared to what there is for ls1's....

and you have a lot to learn... you should have read more before doing anything.

Don't mean to be a dick... but sounds like you have NO IDEA AT ALL what the hell you are doing.... and im going to be the one to tell you so you can save your car and do the right thing...

get injectors.... get a fuel pump.... and AT LEAST a mailorder tune.... and even then running a mailorder tune is like smoking while wading knee deep in gas... lol... its still not a good idea... but better than what you are doing now...

oh.... and one last thing.... if you have mid or long tube headers... ditch them... shorty headers or manifolds will spool the turbo much better on a rear mount.... tho im sure it spools ok because t3/t4 turbos have TINY exhaust sides.....

Damn so harsh....first off not to offend anybody that dont deserve it i did state that i didnt have the intake pipe ran as of the time of this prob....so the boost dont have to do with ****.I have everything ran now and did later that night. but the prob was there before boost could ever be present. but thanks for the sarcasm .... oh i mean advice lol

i would seriously make sure the SOME type of tune is in there before you even touch the pedal. and make sure you have enough fuel for the hp

look if its a lt1 and its still got the opti-spark......start there......without the intake pipe attached...it will run completely normal, the turbo is just like a muffler.....oh i forgot...get a squirt bottle and spray some water on the coil while its running.......if you see sparks replace it!

Now i heard, not stating it's a fact, that not having back pressure on the turbo (as in not having the cold side connected to anything) is not so good for it. And of course you wont make boost without the cold side hooked up!!!!

So... now that means something is wrong with something else.... like opti or something..... does it run good in a certain rpm range?

its not a good idea to run a turbo without any restriction on the discharge side. the turbo will just freewheel with exhaust pressure and accelerate big time.

i think the best thing for you do to is hook up a scanner and monitor whats going on.

What size injectors? At least get LT1 Edit. If you have not upgraded the injectors and fuel pump and backed off the timing, you are asking for trouble.

More details on your build please. Pics would help.
