Default shouldnt i be able to download a tune to a RR...

i've got the roadrunner out of my car in my living room and im trying to load another tune on it... shouldnt i be able to do this with out it being hooked up to the car?

dont ask why its out of the car.... its easy to answer but not needed..

i want to make sure i have all the firmware updates and calibrations corrected before i have it hooked up in my car.... because then ill be gettin in and out of the car for a few hours trying to figure out whats wrong if i dont have the calibrations right...

You need a proper bench flash setup with power, obdii, pcm connectors etc.
I assume you have all that?

no... there is not power going to the roadrunner... just the dongle->usb

You cant do that. You need the PCM connector with power to work the PCM.

Check out speartech. They do bench setups so you can work it out of the vehicle.

thats fine i just wanted to make sure that it was NOT saposed to work... cool... ill put it back in the car then

No prob. You wouldnt have needed the OBDII, just the Power from the harness for the Road Runner.

I spoke with Craig about this. If your USB port supplies enough power, you can flash the RR while it's out of the car. This is only applicable with the USB connection. The BlueTooth option does require the PCM to have power.

Yup. I have flashed mine countless times on the bench without a power source and it works just fine.
