Default Soft/sticking pedal after WOT thru 4th...clutch not hydraulics, right?

I read alot of posts but wanted to post my specific problem, as it seems most complain about not being able to get it into gear under WOT, which is not my case.
Just wanted to make sure this sounds like clutch and not hydraulics. I can smell the clutch when I have dumped it at around 2500rpm. I have street tires and they just light up, but you can still smell the clutch. However I cannot smell the clutch after a run (could be due to being able to cool down before I stop).
The thing is that it will go thru the gears fine, getting a little more finiky going into 3rd, but feels good for an entire run thru 4th. I have only tried to go into 5th under WOT once and couldn't get it in gear.
After the run the clutch sticks about 3 inchs off the floor and is very mushy. It is very hard to get it back into gear. If I wait awhile I can race again and it goes thru the gears fine again, then mushy and sticking a little off the floor again.
Normal driving is fine, but somtimes I can't get it into first from a stop, I have to push the clutch in again and it works or I have to go to 3rd then back to 1st.
The car had nitrous and slicks on it before I got it, but I'm not sure if it's still the stock clutch and how much was sprayed. The car has 43000 miles.

This a typical "clutch going out" issue?

Thanks, James.

could be a pressure plate problem, pedal stick can be related to the master cylinder, just a couple of options

did you do the drill mod.....I have had that same problem with my car forever. I just did the drill mod tonight and I ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT!!!!! what a difference it has made. It really makes the car a blast to drive. It took away all the problems I used to have with shifting and the pedal sticking to the floor.

Was the pedal sticking after you ran or while you were shifting?

I have not done the drill mod and I'm starting to think that the prior owner didn't.

Do the drill mod and replace the master cylinder anyway since you have to take it out to do the drill mod anyway.

The drill mod can clear up a lot of clutch problems.
