01 SS, A4, about 68,000 miles - looks like a Torsen...

It was probably low on fluid. Heat causes that.

Yeah, I was thinking it was low when I popped the cover - didn't seem like enough came out....

Soon to be full, though!!

heat and the fact it need to be changed and also probly had low fluid

I had lucas in mine(which inevitably destroyed my auburn) and mine looked like that every time i took the cover off. After auburn said that was a no no i quit using it and havent had a prob.
