You'll probably have better luck posting this in the External Engine section.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine-6/

Being that this the multimedia section it will most likely be moved there by a Mod anyhow.

Long-tubes are the way to go, unless every little bit of ground clearance is a must have.
Also, check out http://www.ls1sounds.com/ if you haven't been there yet.
That will give you a better idea of what it may sound like, if sound is also a major factor that is.
Good luck

Do longtubes unless you're getting the macs super cheap, I made the switch from macs to pacesetters and won't ever look back. The sound improvement alone was worth the swap, let alone the midrange tq I gained....and I actually have better ground clearance now than I did with the macs/ory. The mac ory hung crazy low on the driver's side.

I would have to agree..LT's are best....power + the sound is great...unless u are going to lower more then 1 1/2" or so..I have Edelbrocks and lowered with Eibach Pro-Kit....wouldn't want to go any lower...

If you are on a budget go to Texas-speed (one of our sponsors) and get the Coated pacesetters long tube headers. If moneys no object I would get Kooks headers.

I still run the macs and like them. If I were to buy now i'd probably get LT's unless I got a super cheap set of macs.

The Macs are not a bad header. My full-weight plain-jane '98 Z28 went 12.52s with just a LS6 intake, Macs, 4.10s, lid, and cutout.

They'll make the same PEAK rwhp that a long tube will, but will give up a few ftlbs in midrange.

For the money, they're not a bad 1.75" header.

Bad choice on the flowmaster catback.......sound nice but very restrictive

Same here. My Mac ory hung lower than my long tubes. Sound is better too.
