Default Starting problems

last night i was leaving a friends house and when i got into my 95 Z28, the car wouldnt start. the car has an alarm, but it wasnt engaged so i dont believe that was the problem. needless to say i spent the night and this morning i got up and started playing a detective. heres my conclusion: either the tumbler is not recognizing my key(vats) or there is a wiring issue on my alarm. But i did find that remote start worked and the car started right up and would run until the brake was applied. So im lost, any ideas???

Could be VAT's. On the LS1 cars, sometimes mysterious starting problems are caused by the Body Control Module going bad. Don't know if that is a possibility on an LT1. Just a thought.
