Default 78 Trans Am

I was finally able to drive the car on Sunday. I'll be able to drive it to the body shop. It doesn't look very good right now but it's fast. I was amazed how quick it moves. It's alot faster than the 400 pontiac I had in my other trans am. The car is a 78 trans am with a 76 front clip. Other modifications are 02 LQ9 engine, 4L80E trans, aluminum radiator, LS1 fans, 02 f-body rear disc brakes, 17" ROH rims w/ 255 in front and 285 in the rear.

I know it needs to be cleaned up. I still want to switch the waterpump to a LS1 style, move the pcm and fuse box, relocate the battery to the trunk and remove the unused wires from the harness. I also need to run the ac lines. I was happy to be able to drive the car.

Nice! I wish I could have put a LS1 into my 78TA. Speaking of which isn't that a 76? The 78 has the teardrop headlight bezels like the original Smokey & the Bandit.

sweet ride! I see in addition to the '76 front bumper (as you mentioned above) you have an early 70's Formula hood, too (or at least grafted the scoops from one) Are you going to install the "shaker" scoop or do you have other plans?

Are you going to keep the LQ9 intake, or will you swap to an LS1/ LS6 style?

I like the '76 front bumper. Similiar to '74's and '75's, but no exposed metal bumper....

The body is a 78. See the fisher t-tops. The front clip was from a 76. The hood is from a formula and someone cut an opening for a shaker scoop. This is how I purchased the car. I realize there is still alot of work left. I was excited just to be able to drive the car. I'm planning to switch the intake and swap in a 224/224 cam.
