Default Polishing a mirror?

So let's say I fucked up and scratched my passenger mirror up a bit (the actual mirror part)... how would I go about polishing it back to a smooth finish? Is this even possible?

I'm hoping I can just use a polish to fix it.. please tell me it's possible.

Damn. That's what I figured. I couldn't imagine a way for a polish to fix a mirror.
