Default Mcleod or Ram Adjustable master?????

I rebuilt my tranny and I'm running a Teaxtralia clutch. I'm loosing pedal and high RPM's shifting is zip to none. My slave needs to be replaced and I need help deciding which one to get.

What do you guys think?

McLeod or Ram Adjustable?

Ram is cheaper. I run a broken mcleod...its a piece of work for sure.

Tex suggest stock hydraulics. use them. Replace them with new parts and bleed the system correctly and you will have loads of fun with it.

I was about to say the same thing.

That being said, I have the McLeod unit - its been working fine for me.

McLeod. I had the street twin clutch. Eventually my master cyl went out. Tried to replace with a stock but the rubber lines would flex. I still have my old one if you want it. I believe they sell a rebuild kit.

i just replaced my mcleod and i had been waiting 6 months and just finally got my car running again. The problem started when if i was slowing down the pedal pressure on the clutch was going down. then it would get stuck and then come back up. the slave is a year old so i knew it wasnt that. So i ordered a rebuild kit that took 3 weeks to come in cause a vendor on here kept giving me lame *** excuses on why they didnt have any. So they sent me the rebuild kit and it didnt fit. Keep in mind they only make 2 rebuild kits one for the LT and one for an LSx. So i sent them then MC to rebuild it, 3 weeks later they call me back and tell me they cant rebuild it for me cause they dont know how. So i get my mc back and sure enough it wasnt bleeding properly. The braided line that fed from the bottom of the MC that went to the trans was clogged with sludge & they sent me a NEW mc unit but didnt bother replacing the braided line. So i order a new mc from the dealer ship and that braided line is molded in the plastic so i call Mcleod back and the guy that sent me the new mc didnt replace the braided line. Anyhow they charge me 90 bucks for a new braided line and i get it a week later. Call back cause it doesnt fit the fitting on the bottom of the master cylinder and i have to wait another 2 weeks for them to send me the right line. They told me they couldnt send the right line until they received the wrong braided line first. So another 2 weeks later i get my new line, installed it and its working fine now. The only thing is i had originally purchased my mc in 02 from thunder. This newer unit uses 2 bolts that screw in from the inside of the firewall instead of using that u bolt that goes in from the out side of the fire wall. the bleeder line is a better one and overall i think the mcleod piece is a good unit. but theyre customer service sucks ***** bigtime......

I was also told by a shop tech that if you dont use the GM brake fluid in your hydraulics that the seals can end up going bad if you use the dot 3 from your local auto parts store. This coming after changing 2 master cylinders and 4 slave cylinders.

Make sure when you change your clutch to see if you have to use a shim with your slave. sorry for the rant......

well sorry to hear about all that man. that does suck *****.

well the adjustable is supposed prevent you from not using shims... I heard use stock master. and use dot 4 synthetic.

You can always call and ask t56rebuilds.com they are a Houston local sponsor and good people. I'm sure they can give you some good advice.

Ha. Sorry. No I sold it almost a year ago. Bout a daily driver diesel and got another f-body sitting in the drive way. If you want my old master cyl its yours.

I'd have to agree unless you can get a perfect one go with the oem stuff. I have not tinkered with the aftermarket hydraulics but I have installed a bunch of the gm stuff at the shop and have not an comebacks. I'd replace the slave and master at the same time. That way you start out with fresh everything.

Since they recomend a stock master and slave I would run nothing but that. If you ran into problems later down the road with the aftermarket stuff, im sure youll get an "I told you so" from textrailla.
