!PCV and Oil life question

!PCV and Oil life question Maybe this isn't really the right forum for this so feel free to move it mods.
Basically I know that removing the PCV system drastically reduces your oil life, but what about oil like Amsoil where recommended intervals are like 8 - 10k miles ? Is it safe to run even half that long without PCV or should I still be looking to change the oil every 3,000 miles ?
I guess I'm just not sure if its worth switching to Amsoil from Castrol (Not GC) or M1 if I'm going to have to change it every 3,000 miles anyway because of !PCV.
And no putting the PCV system back is not an option IMO.

I could swear I've read several times that it really hurts your oil life by not having the crankcase properly ventilated . Of course my crankcase can breath, but air is not being sucked out of it

Two words, oil consumption.
I run a breather now. It also cleans up the engine bay nicely.
I dunno about you but I don't want anything but fuel, air and spark in my combustion chamber and no crazy catch can will ever eliminate 100% of the oil coming through the PCV system.
edit: Lemme clear this up, I didn't just remove the PCV valve, the entire system is gone and everything is capped off with the exception of a piece of 3/8" hose connecting the valve covers.

Hate to hijack but is it ok to run two breathers if you're deleting the pcv system. I have an extra passenger side valve cover and was going to run a breather on both. Will this be ok?

i'm in the same boat. i ditched that **** 
i took my FAST off and oil was running out of it 
i can't see where it would effect oil life. i can't see how the PCV vents better then a breather.

Keep the oil info coming though guys. The difference I see is that the crankcase is being ventilated by its own higher pressure whereas with the PCV system the intake vacuum is actually sucking air out of the crankcase.... I think

redline in my **** i don't go by mileage, when it starts changing colors/getting dark brown that crap comes out. going by mileage on a race motor/motor that is raced like mine is different then in a normal car. i mean 1000 miles at 3-7000rpms > 1k @ 2-3000rpms. see my theory?

It's not going to drastically reduce the life of your oil. Material from normal wear is what makes the oil dirty and that's not going to change. Like SSwanner said, just watch it and you'll be able to tell as the color changes. The PCV is to keep the crankcase from over pressure conditions which would blow out the engine seals.
