Default Carb intake with injectors vs LS6 manifold

Anyone knows which one flows better. The carb intake just looks so badass on the LS series engines. Since we're on the topic a buddy of mine has a 408 stroker 351W with a carb intake with injectors in his 93 notch and its simply bitchin. It dynos at 465whp. Would a LS 408 put out more ponies!!!

Default carb

I personally have prefer the carb style intake like edelbrock, I have seen the ls6 intake fall off at 6600 the carb intake keeps pulling, but it depend on how many rpm's and combination .

Default 408 power

yes, if the 408 is built right such as cam heads & intake tune, it will out perform a 408 ford, but i'm also partial to ls power

Plus I think the LS heads are far superior to anything made for a ford engine. My buddy has AFR heads on his which are pretty bad *** but I still think the AFR LS heads are probably better.

I think the CHI 3V Cleveland heads probably are as good as any LSx series heads. But those are really good aftermarket heads.

I also seem to recall a couple of postings about L92 heads making good power. At least one of the posts I saw reported 500 rwhp 466rwt on a reasonable camshaft, with the L76 intake, and was making 380 ft-lbs at like 2300 rpm. Perfectly streetable. And the motor was still willing to pull (cruise a vette at 65) at 1500rpm and not lug or buck.

There's plenty of kickass ford and chevy heads that are as good and better than an LS style head - with anything, there is potential when you have the $$$$.

As far as the ford 408 Ford versus the LS, it's all about combination.... and even with more power, it doesn't mean squat if your chassis can't get it to the ground.

You forgot one advantage the LS has over the Ford, ALUMINUM BLOCK !!!

Yes - but you were talking about heads not blocks! Weight is always an advantage ... and that's why there is such a huge market for high quality & strength aftermarket blocks. LSX or otherwise...

But if you really are trying to work this out, more than saying one motor "probably is" or "maybe is" better than the other, you really would need to know all of the facts. It would be plain to see which motor would make more power with the exact combination of both motors.

A single plane intake would definitely make more power up top then the LS6 or even a FAST intake at the sacrifice of some idle quality. If you do it do a single plane not dual.
