seems like a good price considering what it is, and he said the issue with the milage is because a previous owner and something with putting the wrong milage on something and he said it got fixed because either him or an owner before him didn't want it until the milage was fixed.
is there anyway for me to find out of it's legit and really has 48k on it?

Either take a look at the odometer reading, or have him take a pic of the odometer reading with something random in the pic that you request to be in it so you know it was just taken. Example...have him hold up a pen next to the odometer reading and have him send the pic.

I think GM secured the odometer readings pretty well so they can't be fudged. They can't be changed with standard tuning software so I doubt any regular joe can change it.

There isn't any way of knowing short of getting the records from the Michigan DMV and trying to locate the previous owners to see how many miles they put on it. You could also take the SN to a dealer & see if they'll run it for you to pull their vehicle history.

I might be cautious about buying a car with a record of possible odometer rollback issues.

I'd be cautious too. Now that I think about it, you could probably swap computers with a low milage wrecked car and then get your mileage down that way.

It's obvious the car has at least 116K on it or more. No one screws up writing the mileage down like that. If you had a car with 48K on it, do you think there'd be any way you might "mistakenly" write 1xx,xxx miles? Not happening. The car is worth about half what is being asked for it. Stay away.
