I wouldnt put money into it, I wouldnt beat on it either.

As for cost, you can get a good used 10 bolt for 300-400 bucks, a new Moser 12 bolt is 2400, not quite 15- 10 bolts, Breaking down and swapping rears still suck...

Ditch the 10 bolt before it leaves you stranded.

Anyhow, my 10-bolt held up to a shitload of track abuse, and just now broke. I just threw a used posi in it to get me by until I can afford a S-60 with a spool.

I'm going to get by for a whole year on a really sick rear-end. I'm not going to abuse it, the car is driven once a week to keep everything lubed/running right. I wouldn't dare throw some sticky tires on the car.

If you plan to beat on it, I would go ahead and invest in a new rear end.

I guess it all comes down to what you're going to do with the car, and how deep your pockets are.

After doing H/C on my car, my 10bolt has started to whine like a baby. Even with 3.23's back there, i don't think she's going to last much longer. I'll be purchasing a 9" in the near future. Figure it'll take any abuse i throw at it now and in the future. It sux not being able to open up your car for fear of it breaking and getting stuck in the middle of no where. Do you self a favor and start saving for something better now.

You could put in a better differential & be "better" but honestly, beings that you have an M6 (10 bolt eater) it is a matter of time before it will leave you stranded.....Some people go into 10's with em (A4 guys) some don't get out of the driveway w/o breakin the pos 10 bolt....here is a discussion you might be interested in, maybe it will help you decide whether you want to build the 10 bolt or not:

its not worth beefing one up, but to have a spare compared to a 12 an you go to the track once or twice every few months, i feel its fine. everyone has to ride in a tow truck one time or another. or get the best of both worlds, i just bought a 10 bolt with a ta girdle and motive 3.42 gears for 125 bucks...let some one else build it

why 12 bolt??? A 9" is stronger than a 12 bolt & is a lil cheaper.....Even with a 12 bolt you might still have issue's....12 bolt's aren't bulletproof whereas a 9" pretty much is IMO.....but hey, it's your $$$$ & ride
