How much more timing are you adding with Methanol?
Think I'm gonna add meth to my blower setup, i was wondering how much more timing you guys are adding to your tunes..
Right now I'm at 19 with no knock whatsoever according to the datalogger with efi live.
I spoke with company that will I be getting my kit from and he said i'll have to retune because it will be running rich. is it going to be that rich or no?
I have no idea what my afr is right now, its probably in the high 11's.

No I dont have a wideband in the car. A buddy of mine has one but it wasn't working so we got it where it felt close but honestly dont know where its at. We were planning on dataloggin with the wideband but for some reason it was not working right.
i'll bring it to him this wknd to see if we can see where its at.
i plan on getting one so I can always keep an eye on it.
Just wanted to know if guys were adding a lot more timing or just a 3-4 degrees.

thanks stevie, with 6 degrees more, did your car really pick up a lot of power?

Honestly no idea. I have no evidence one way or another that it did, or didnt.
But I do know, that when at the track, it makes a huge difference to IAT's when making a pass after sitting queuing for ages.
So on that point alone, its worth it.
I dont have enough runs with and without on a similar spec to say if it gains power when on meth. I would assume it does. Way too difficult to tell SOTP at this level.

Right, the only reason I'm considering adding meth is to keep the iat's low. Its gets very hot here in teh summer.
they told me i'd have to retune cause the car will be running too rich if I just add it and leave it alone.

I do have to pull a fair bit of fuel when injecting meth, to maintain similar AFR's on the wideband.
Snow kit, out of the box using the 625 jet. injects at 3psi, Full power by 10psi or therabouts.

I don't add any timing compared to my 91 tune, but I turn up the boost 3 more psi on a 50/50 mix.
Easiest way i've found to tune the a/f is like this:
Tune for max safe AFR on pump gas (13psi for me), then add meth after that as the a/f starts to lean out. That way you can still drive on low boost if you run out of meth and not worry.

I'm wondering the same questions. My meth kit should ship out today hopefully from Julio.

The way I see it is that if you run Meth you should have a wideband in the car all the time.(actually any FI car should have one).
As for timing, the best way is to run it on the dyno and keep adding timing while looking at the hp gain. When it stops gaining pull 2-3 degree's out and be done.
Remember -ussing KR sensor's to check timing is not the right way on a FI car. We've had alot of cars blow motor's that never had any KR.

Depending on the way boost ramps up you could just shift at an earlier RPM to keep the boost below the safe point. 6000 rpm shift point vs 7000 rpm shift point. Won't work for all setups, but would work for some people.
If you run out of meth either stay out of boost or short shift. It's much easier to tune meth and tune in general on a SC car than a turbo car. There is one less dimension to the fueling / timing tables. Acts more like a big N/A motor.
