Default Spoiler: 96-97 ss vs 98-02 ss

Car is getting repainted. The original spoiler has roughly 10 coats of paint on it, as it is now has a HOK candy paint job. Early into the prep work, I'm thinking it needs to be replaced. SLP has a killer deal on the 96-97. Any thoughts?

I myself prefer the 98+ SS spoiler, but going with the 96-97 isn't a bad choice either.

Agreed, though the 97 is different, its really just a z28 spoiler with some extra fiberglass on it.

How bad was the shipping? The spoiler is selling for 130. I've always been a fan of the 96-97 SS cars.

Since you have a real SS I'd stick with the correct spoiler... IF it was a Z I'd consider the 96-97 only because it is so cheap right now...

the 96-97 dosent have the "braces " under the bottem, but in my opinion if ur car is a 98-02 ss u need to put that back on there to match the year of ur car, if its a z then go for the deal, but yea slp is sometimes a rip off, i like to call them

98-02 SS should only get the correct spoiler

I really like the 96-97 SS spoiler for any year Z28. I think it's a subtle change that adds a lot to the look.

We think the same about a lot of things... weird.

I like a 98 & up better, but if i had a true 96 or 97 SS, id keep the stock spoiler. A lot more exclusive and keeps it original.

Keeping the correct spoiler for the 99 was my original thought. However, the hood will be a VFN, the fenders are new, and every other 99 SS item is gone with the exception of the floor mats and dash plaque.

I've got a OEM 98+. I'd rather have a 96-97 just cause it's true to the LT1. I'm just happy with my 98+

personally i like the Z29 or the 96-97 SS spoiler because you see the same ol 98+ spoilders everyday and I like being original, not saying the 98+ spoilers are ugly, they're hot, but i just like standing out, even as miniscule as this is...
