Question Firebird Bi-Xenon HID projector Retro

I have been working on HID-Projector retrofit on my 2001 Firebird. So far i have gone through 3 different projectors and setups, but finally i think i found the best candidate. I am going to keep the Pop-up option and absolutely NOT going to cut or trim any of the stock brackets and parts. So far i have been able to mount the Hella Bi-xenon projector in place of low-beam (outerside).

I have already done the wiring harness and everything else except the last part of the project and thats the TRIM....I am going to make it a Fiberglass (may CF later) custom trim. This trim will be for decorative purpose only since i already have made custom brackets to mount the Projector in place.(See some pictures below). Ohhh and I will be having thin Acrylic lense over all this...

I have question for you guys, see the LAST picture and tell me if I should go with Chrome or Mat-black... i am more inclined towards Black since it blends with car color... I need to decide Chrom/black before I start Fiberglassing since this will define if i wanna do Male or Female mold (for finish purposes)..

So tell me CHROME or BLACK ??

You're doin a risky thing, but I'm glad you are. I wish I had the know how to implement some of my ideas. Maybe you can pave the way for making us some HID Projector Kits ...

well, tell you the truth, i thought the same thing before i started. But since no one is making a kit (for reasonable price and that to for POP-UP), i had to do something about it. I had absolutely no knowledge about HIDs...first i was gonna buy those 300+$ kit, but then learnt that thats not a REAL HID...so, to learn more i joined HIDPLANET forum...read and learnt all about HID retros. Then the main challenge was a very limited space we got to work around with pop-up headlights... like i said, i am against cutout or modify anything on stock brackets (then its just not challenging enough )

With 3 different projectors and 5 different setup i finally figure out the optimum setup for the car (my choice).... now its just the matter of making TRIM to cover it up... I already have the HID projectors running. I will post some pict soon...

I am gonna make trim similar to the BLACK one in last picture. And about Fiberglass, I have never worked with it. But INTERNET is your friend. I have already made a CLAY mold for my trim. Now i am gonna paint the mold, hold into brackets and see how it looks, then do changes if necessary and make my final mold. Then i can just do fiberglassing with it..as many numbers i want

i am here to help anyone who wants to know more about REAL HID projector retro...so dont hesitate to ask questions....

will keep you all posted with few more picts soon..

Damn man, that is really sweet looking. I like how you didn't hack up any of the stock stuff either. Def go with the black. And man if you could easily put this stuff into a kit, to sell, you'd be making bank.

What projectors did you go with? I'm looking to eventually try and stuff some projectors into my birds headlights but length is of issue. Let me know. Thanks.
