Default EGR Removal question

I want to install my FAST intake but I'm getting rid of my EGR when I get tuned, so would it hurt anything to just cut the tube off that goes to the intake and just vent it to the atmosphere? I don't have block off plates and I want to do the install this weekend, so if it'll be ok to just leave it open, I'm doing it.

I wouldn't leave it open, I'd buy a plug for it.

Do a search real quick and I'm sure you'll find what size you need. The should be available at a hardware store.

I think some of the sponsors even carry them...

I wouldn't do it. Get the adjustable freeze plug to plug it. You will need the one that expands to a maximum of 1 3/8 inch.

Sorry, I wasn't being clear here. My FAST intake has no opening for EGR and I wouldn't want it anyway. What I am asking is if I can leave the tube OUT of the intake and just let it vent to atmosphere. Right now my factory LS1 intake has it and I want to install my FAST intake which DOESN'T have it but without disconnecting the EGR system from the header. I'd just cut the tube off and get it out of the way.

You'd have an open exhaust leak.

What if I stuck a bolt in the tube with some RTV and clamped it in? That would work to fix the leak for the time being, right?

i'm not sure if it would be very bad to do that but i dont think its a good idea to let your exhaust gases vent at all under your hood if thats what it would do. i just took all the egr,air pipes, tubing and pump off my car the other day and i just had some 26 guage sheetmetal in my basement and i made some plates for the egr and air. you could do the same if you dont wanna buy the plates.

Reguardless if you leave the EGR tube unplugged you will have a huge exhaust/vacum leak and the car will run like crap... After I installed my headers I was so excited to hear them without the Y or catback and forgot to hook up the EGR and it kept dieing

Yeah, I'll just take the tube off and put a bolt into it to close it off.

To stop the laek for now all you have to do is unplug the pump. HAHA! Thats what I did when i tried to the the EGR tube mod and cut it too short.
The plate to do a !EGR is only ten bucks dude. I got it from ws6store.com, arrived in like four days. And it is sooooo simple to remove and block off. literally one plug and four bolts.
