Yank SS4000 track results Finally got to Memphis last night with the new mods and I didn't quite get to where I wanted to be, but I know I have some room to grow. My best pass was a 12.57 @ 107.49 with a 1.8 60'. For reference, I was trapping upper 107's before the converter and tune, so those are great results on Yank's efficiency. On a side note, there was a very stiff headwind all night that I know wasn't helping anybody. I can see another .1 without that wind easy.
I was running 315 Nittos at ~14 psi. I cut a best 60' of 1.77, but oddly that equated to a 12.61 pass. I wasn't able to launch as hard as the car will because that resulted in massive wheelspin and a short shift into 2nd. My best 60's were achieved by brake stalling it to ~2500 and releasing the brake on the light. As soon as the car jumped out, I was able to quickly roll into the throttle and get some decent short times. The Nittos just wouldn't hold WOT on the light. With a 2.6 STR, that doesn't surprise me.
My tuner is going to make some adjustments on the 2-3 shift as well. 1-2 shift is snappy as hell and was wagging my rear end out for a second. 2-3 is a little softer and I think it's shifting too late. We are going to command a lower shift point and see if that improves anything. I felt the car falling off it's power right before the 2-3 shift, almost like TM used to feel before we deleted it. So I think with some adjustments to the tune and no headwind, I'll see some improvement. Maybe run a MT ET radial and get some better short times as well. Here's the rest of the stats from my pass:

On the way home, I ran a buddy's '00 Z28 with LT's, TD's, Yank 3500, 3.42's and 18" Z06's all around. We were dead even from ~50-115ish. I would start to pull around 115, but not bad. His best of the night was a 12.6X at 107.X on street tires!

you need better tires. nitto's really wont cut it with a big stall and high STR. i really thought you'd 60' better than that either way. what was your launch technique?

I have 315 17's, my buddy has the 18". Track prep seemed to be pretty decent. This is my first time racing with a stall, so there could be some driver mod left. Like I mentioned, I would brake stall it to ~2500 and then release the brake as I rolled into the throttle. That was the only way I could keep from spinning.

I agree with Dan. Get those Nittos off and get some M/T ET street radials. I run the 275/40's on 15lbs and can dead hook my car on a well prepped track. I have found that my car 60 ft's the best coming out between 2500-2800. Really did not see a difference between 2500- 2800, but did see a difference when coming out below 2500 or trying to flash the convertor. More seat time and the M/T's will get ya there.

Yea there should be more in the luanch man. When I still had the A4 in my car I had a Yank SS3600 with a 275 nitto and used to cut 1.69 60's off a flash and 1.7x's off of a brake stall. Get ya some tires that hook and you should be rolling even better!

If you have a 3600 stall, doesnt mean you can footbrake it up to 3600RPMs.
When you stall it using the brake and pressing the gas it goes from 2500-2800 at the most. If you go much more then that for a period of time at the line its definitely not good for the converter. Ive cut 1.81 60's on Nittos with my Yank 3600. The Nittos will not hook worth anything at the track for me, I'd suggest the BFG or the Mickey Thompsons.
