Default throttle body question

I know the difference in throttle body spring colors. I replace my stock 98 with an 04 orange spring truck throttle body. I read it was ok to do so... it this true?

The only real difference I can see is the little nipple is not on the 04 TB to plug the vacume line into so I just took the hose off. Is this ok to do?

Not really sure what this vacume controls. It went from the side of the old throttle body into the passenger side valve cover.

Just reassure me this is an ok swap.

The external castings are the same. Most people do swap the internals do to the differences in the "cam" rate of the throttle shaft.

Weakest to strongest springs are:
Gray 98-99
Blue 00-04
Orange(truck-which is what you have)

so is this a better unit? I am drilling a hole to reattach the vaccume line to. I am just curious what improvement - if any - this is over the 98.

? You shouldn't have to drill a hole?

on the 98 TB, there was a vacum port that connected to the passenger side valve cover vis a small 6" hose. The post is not on the 04 TB at all so the vacum is sucking in unfiltered air right now. I was going to drill a hole and reconnect that tube.
