Default VIN info

Can my VIN Tell me what gears I have in my car? I have read in multiple threads when i was searching that my 96' LT1 A4 car should have the 3.23's because it was ordered with the performance axle, as my window sticker states, and that the car's engine rpm's should be at 1800 at 60 mph. But they are at 2000. Is it possible that they are 3.42's? Or could my tac be off? And I am positive that my torque converter in locking up so that is not the issue, unless it's clutch is slipping...

Thanks

To see what came with the car originally check the RPO codes, 3.23 was GU5. Play with the calculator at www.f-body.org/gears/

1800 RPM at 61 MPH is 3.23
2000 RPM at 64 MPH is 3.42

Assumes stock tire size...

RPO codes? I assume this is the sticker that is supposed to be in the driver side door jam that will tell you this? The only sticker that is in my door jam is the one telling gross weight, tire pressure, and that kind of stuff. There is only the VIN number on that sticker, no other number.

Just put it in 4th on the highway and see how many rpms you cruise at, then go to www.f-body.org/gears/ and see what your diff is
