i just got a new set of arp head bolts, and the washers are in a clear bag. do they have the lube on them allready? there wasn't any lube packet in the box.

There is probably some on there straight from ARP. However, I'd still use either the ARP lube or 30W motor oil on them.

My stud kit was oily when I opened the package, but I used oil anyways.

You have to use ARP moly lube on them to make the torquing consistent.

yeah you can use motor oil but using moly lube provides consistent accurate torque so that everything has proper clamping force. When ARP provides torque values for you to use those values are derived on how much torque it takes to get a certain clamping force, and they use moly lube when they do it. When you use motor oil the friction changes slightly and will make those torque values not provide the proper clamping force.

ARP moly lube is probably the ideal lubricant to use, but I noticed on the instructions that came with my stud kit, that ARP provides an "alternate", if you will, set of torque values for when using motor oil.

Can't remember each value for each pass, but I do know the final torque is 85 lb-ft for oil versus 70 lb-ft for lube.

So far it's worked good for me...and I've removed/replaced my heads three times now.

Nothings come apart yet, so hopefully that'll continue!

All friction surfaces should get lube after the washers and bolts are thoroughly cleaned of the rust inhibiter that is coating them from ARP. The bolts should glide in with the heads off, if there is any resistance keep working. Get the ARP lube as well.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA i swear, i think they have ronnie milsap or ray charles packing the damn arp head bolts becuase i got a set last week.... one of the washers was for a damn size bolt that didnt even come with it.... had to go to carquest and get some washers...
