Default 4.10 questions all in one!

Ok so lets get all this info into one thread. how likely are you to break the 10 bolt? how much better performance wise? obviously gas will be worse but who cares thats not why we bought this car. my car is a DD but it will see the track a few times. get as much info in as possible. thanks

Your 10 bolt will be weaker due to the gears.

A lot of people would not even invest in putting gears into the rear-end because if you drive an M6 it is just a ticking time bomb waiting to blow.

Personally, I have 410's and they make a nice difference over the stock 342's. HP wise, you will lose some, but the car will still feel faster regardless.

Make sure you get it done right because you want to avoid gear whine.

Also, the rev limiter comes up rather quick in 1st gear when launching

one main thing is, do you have a stick or auto?...that will determine how much weaker that 10bolt will be

I have 4.56's in my ssr and they are great. it is a d/d and I can blow the tires off the rims if I wanted to in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear. I know how to drive so I get really good acceleration. My opinion is the lower the better with an M6 With your smaler tires I'd go for the 4.10's

Gear is fine for DD, gas milage will only drop a small amount (like one or 2 miles per gallon on the highway) but will get better in town, so its a trade off. love the gear and wish i had a 4.56 gear now.
