Egr Removal
tried search got little info im sure some one can help me here. i really want to remove the egr and air but ive been told that deleting the egr can cause problems like blowing head gaskets(doubt that can happen just wanna make sure) also ive never had a visual for emissions, but will a tune enable me to pass emissions. i plan on getting an ls6 intake in the future but i would really like to get rid of the egr asap

Taking off the EGR will not blow any gaskets.
Since you have no visual dont stress about it, you will just need to get the codes deleted. You will pass the sniffer no problem. Plus with the ls6 you are going to have to get rid of the egr unless you go with the SLP manifold.
Just start unbolting ****, thats what I did atleast and had everything out of the car in the matter of an hour or so. Its no big deal besides the codes...which is no big deal as well.

the diablo should be able to get rid of your codes. And for the original poster i would just wait until you get the LS6 - thats what i did. If you do it now then you will need to buy a extra block off plate to put on the manifold.

Correct. Just an SES light, no driveability differences.
If you were to just disconnect your EGR without removing it or blocking it off, I would think that you would get a pretty nasty vacuum leak.

I removed my egr on my 98 when I insalled my ls6 manifold and cut the pipes to the module but left it on the bracket with the electrical plugged in - no ses light. The egr is controlled by other sensors and will continue to pseudo function even if the manifolds pipes are gone.
