Default New H/C 355 LE times: 11.37 @ 118.90

In case anyone missed my post over on cz28..

This is my *first* pass on my 355, LE2 heads, and LE3 cam. Rest of the basics are in my sig.

11.370 @ 118.90 1.579 60' (1/8 7.222 @ 94.49)

I backed that up with a 11.398 @ 118.65 varying my launch some.

Best time was run with off idle launches ~ 1300 RPM brake stall. Car ran smooth as silk, should have videos tomorrow I imagine. Last pass on the night I meatspun the 60' to a 1.8x let off, and still trapped 118.3.

So, I'm still on a mail order tune (good ****in' job pcmforless!), fouled/too cold plugs, stock throttle body, and pretty much stock suspension.

Thank you Lloyd for kick *** heads, Bret for a kickass, extremely driveable cam, Frank @ CPT for a BADASS 4L60E, and Yank for building a REAL converter for these cars.

I think the car will go 10's once I tweak it out and in better weather. Tonight was "ok" but it was raining on and off. Track had to be dried twice tonight.

Those times ROCK for a shakedown night with crappy track conditions, and now you just have to get the system dialed in and be in the 10's with it...

Car weight: 3330 + me (170) = ~3500 + difference in weight b/w a 10 bolt and a Ford 9"

Thanks John, I look forward to the road to tweaking

Damn Javier, I was waiting to see some times from your setup for a while. I saw the vid you posted on CZ28.com about a week ago and the car sounds awsome. I say shoot for 10's N/A then spray it in the 9's . j/k bro but those are some good times, maybe there's still some power to bring the 60ft down a little to sneak into the 10's. good luck and post up the vids!

No, I haven't actually. The only weight out of the car is the front swaybar, spare/jack, and the weight loss that is associated with running big/little prostars. Other than that she's a full weight, full leather interior, full option, Z28. I've only put it on one scale so who knows if it's right on.

LT1mann, these times are through my Moser 9". I should have vids soon I hope, waiting on those who took them to upload 'em

Street demon, I think with better weather, some suspension tweaking, a TB, and maybe a dyno tune I can get this car into the 10's. I think it will go 11.1x in better weather just the way it sits, and 120+ traps won't be a problem.

Dammit Javier, I hope my car runs those times on the bottle. How well does the LE3 cam drive compared to the LE2 cam, or am I mistaken, you used to run the LE2 right?

Awesome results Javier!

Not sure if you were looking for a dynotune -- but Jeremy Formato does a great job on dynotunes, and he basically travels all over Florida. I had him clean up my PCMforless mailorder tune and the car feels a lot better, I was even leaning out almost 13.8 up top at WOT.

hehe

I had hardly any seat time behind the LE2 cam. That heads/cam setup on my old shortblock only lasted 50 miles before I slapped a valve with a piston last year, so I couldn't really tell ya.

I may give Jeremy a shot later this year, I have another LT1 owner/friend that has his car tuned by him and it is running very well with a baby BRE cam.

I agree about the weight, I didn't have a whole lot of weight reduction last year when I weighed my car on a calibrated scale during a racing event. RW weighed in at 3490, and that was with me 200ish and 3/4 tanks of gas on stock rims and tires all around. All I had done for weight reduction at the time was !rear seats, belts, and brackets, !front swaybar and brackets, !catback, !exhaust heatsheilding, !A.I.R and EGR, and !TCS and cruise control...

So far this year I added ~15-20# with Subframes and Drag swaybar, but pulled 30-40# from the front end with draglites and a Odyssey PC680 15# battery. I am also doing a few more things for weight reduction too and hope to get down to a RW of ~3450 or less and this with retaining all power accessories, AC, and the stock 10 speaker amplified stereo system. If I get around to pulling those then maybe I might get below ~3400, so that would make the car < 3200#

Javier, consider this another request for you to get those vids up...

Those are some great times. WHat is your compression and what are the details on your shortblock internals. I am to shooting for the 11s but I am going with a set of AI 200cc heads and cam for mine.

Shortblock is using a polished/lightened stock crank, 6" Scat Ibeam forged rods, and Mahle PowerPak .030 coated/forged pistons for 6" rods. ARP main studs, Melling HV oil pump, Milodon 30909 pan. Block is zero decked, running FelPro head gaskets.

Compression is estimated in the mid 11's I think? I don't have the exact number, I'll try to calculate it later.

11's shouldn't be a problem at all with Ai 200cc heads and the cam they choose along with it.

Thanks James.. now get rid of that ProTorque, go buy a damn Yank TC already and get back to the track

Ordered a SS4000 last night.

Who built your engine btw?
I've been considering a 355 bottom end for when I break (or get tired of) this one.
