Default Computer to use with FI

If you had your choice to use any computer with your FI setup what would you use. Would you stay with the 99 and up computer. We already know that no one likes the 98?

Or would you do a BS3 or Fast system?

Please explain Why you would use what you would use....

99+ are all the same. Price would be the objective, with speed density the stock computer can support lots of power, but bs3/fast will always be a better product. They have other features like wideband correcting and many more.

Well I couldnt get 160-150 lb injectors to work with the stock computer, so maybe when you run out of injector with 96 lbers. I am not sure if there is a injector inbetween that will work.

So am I safe to say the stock PCM is good to 850rwhp? I have everything that BS3 or XFI offers, wideband eboost2 2 step hptuners . I should have went with a full computer system from the start but I did not know any better. If I can not get my goals I will sell all the stuff I have and upgrade to a full system

It will work fine at that level and beyond. Just as long as nothing fuel related happens because you have no protection there.

I think the '98 pcm is good up to 15psi, that's more than I'll be running for a while.

I still have my Motec. No problems here. It is a bit complex for people who cant get their cars running in a week.

The Gen 7 DFI seems to get alot of bad press due to the lack of spark stregnth. It is easily fixed with the LS1/6 MSD box and harness'. The GEN 7 DFI software is alot better IMO than the BS3. I have had both. Granted I would have loved to had a BS3 setup. It has a better processor in the control box. However it is nearly $2800 for the same thing I will have a total of $1700 in with the GEN 7 DFI and the MSD igintion components. To each thier own. I wont knock BS3 at ll, but I wont rule out the GEN 7 DFI eigther.

Did you buy one of their universal boxes and make your own harness? Do you still use the coil on plug setup? I have used AEM on a few mustangs and really liked it. As a matter of fact, my best friend is going to use it on his 427ci Windsor turbo car we are building now. Should be pretty bad ***.
