Default ACDelco oil filters are now made in Mexico (and look like crap)

I tried a search on this and nothing came up, but has anyone noticed the change to the ACdelco oil filters? They are now made in Mexico and look like complete crap along the lines of the Fram junk! It feels like there is nothing inside of them and build quality is very poor

I went to every parts place around my area and bought up the last remaining USA made ones for my truck and Z28.

I been using AC oil filters for years as they always seemed to be the best now it looks as if I'll never use another one, I hate ******* outsourcing

I use M1 filters on my Camaro so I can't say I've noticed.

But I still use AC Delco for my L36 engine cars (Bonneville, Monte). Just bought a PF47 about two weeks ago, it looked the same as it always has.

Huh, wherever you get em must still have a large stock of the older "good" ones. Around my way the new made in Mexico ones are most prevalent, believe me you can't miss the new style ones when you see em, even the blue paint job looks bad.

Damn, that sucks. I'm sure I'll be seeing these soon in my area too then. Maybe I'll start getting M1 filters for my daily drivers as well....

Outsourcing sucks huh? Did you know that the LS6 intakes are made in Mexico, as well as the Tremec T56 transmissions found in our cars. So many things on these cars that we love so much are made in Mexico. Just a little FYI. Sorry to hear about the change in filters.

There light as hell too, like there is no filter media in them, I thought the box was empty for a second before I opened it up. Pure junk

Old made in USA style

New made in Mexico style

Yea, I know alot of the parts are made in Mexico, it is when a part previously made in USA goes to Mexico, China, Malaysia etc. and the quality goes down the drain yet we get charged the same price and told it is of the same quality is when it gets bad.

I recently opened a Mobil 1 filter for comparison with the ACDelco PF46. Design and construction are nearly identical with one exception - the ACDelco filter has an internal rubber seal that the Mobil 1 filter lacks. This seal isolates the input and output sides of the filter. It appears to me that some seepage could bypass the filter element of the Mobil 1 filter. I’m sticking with the PF46.

Well I guess if your going to outsource to save money you might as well cut back on your shippng weigth as well. So they decided to just make it look like theres media inside the filter but really the inside is just a hollow.

I think I'm just gonna keep using my wix filter's.

I'll stick with my K&N oil filter for the time being.
