Default DEaler PCM reflash questions, because EFILive killed PCM

I think I need to take and have the PCM out of my 2002 Z06 reflashed at the dealer because it is possibly froze from using EFILive. Can they reflash the PCM by itself or does it need to be in the vehicle? Thanks, Brian

Brian,

They will need the vehicle to flash it since they don't have a bench harness.

Did you pull the power from the PCM and try a full reflash again?
Often a hard reset of the PCM will help.

Default Pcm

No, I don't have the commercial version that allows a full reflash. I tried pulling the battery cable for about 15 minutes and flashscan still wouldn't connect to the vehicle. I don't want to have to have the vehicle towed to the dealer.

Speak to the various local dealerships' service bosses and
see if any of them do have a bench harness. It's possible
although not all that common.

Maybe some of the EFILive illuminati happen to have a
TechII as well and could help you out by mail & return. It
seems odd that recovery (which may not necessarily be
full write?) is only available to "commercial" version but I
don't know their system.

I don't know if it has a recovery mode. All I know is I tried all sorts of things to get it to connect to the PCM and it wouldn't connect. I can't even get it to scan the sensors.

Is there a recovery mode or a procedure to follow to recover it?

our local o'rielly's sells pcms and programs stock with your vin for $100 (programming only)could be another option.
dealer can also program it out of the car. as pcms come blank and a 411 goes in several vehicles getting someone to deliver one ready to go has never been a problem where i work. i have been working on just that off and on. i have the jumped pc power supply and a cable it is untested. i can test my cable i have some spare pcms around. and let you know i do have a stock '02zo6 bin. i would be willing to help pro bono. probably 2 weeks turn around in my present condition. if you want fast local is the way to go make some phone calls i think you will be suprised (in a good way)
good luck

Do you have a V1 or V2 interface? Do your cigarette lighter outlets work?

I have the v1 and I don't know if the cigarette outlets work, but I would assume so since the car seems to be in perfect condition other than this problem. I was using wall power to my laptop when this read and flash occured. I don't think the power plug could have been interupted when the re-flash was taking place.

Its not under the hood. Its a small 20amp fuse on the inner side of the driver side door.

What fuse was it that blew out and where was it? Was it doing the same thing mine was? I know on the camaro there are fuses on the passenger side of the car on the inside, but is that where they are on the vette?

Thanks a lot for the help, Brian

As a last resort, as EFI Live Illuminati member 001 if you send your pcm to me I will do a full reflash of the Calibration and Operating System for free.

I checked there and there wasn't any blown fuses down there either. How do I get EFILive to connect?

.. or upgrade your unit to full commercial. I think its pretty cheap these days. Then you can do a full reflash.

What exactly was you doing when Efilive killed the PCM to my knowledge its impossible to kill the PCM with Personal and dam near impossible with Commercial after the first 10-15 seconds or so? Calibration rewrites dont render the PCM useless have you pulled the fuses and for 15 minutes and tried connecting again and is you cigarette lighter working. I am not sure if you ahve answered/tried that yet. Just test to see if the cig lighter gets hot when you push it in if it doesnt then there is your problem
