Default Need help tracing a turbo leak.

Hi guys,

Got a problem and I know there's a wealth of intelligence here so this is why I'm posting it (hopefully the mods won't mind too much).

My Land Rover Discovery runs a single tubro diesel engine. Recently upgraded to a large FMIC intercooler, upped the boost fiddled with the injector pump and so on. It's been running great.

However when out yesterday I noticed I can hear what sounds like a turbo leak (high pressure air escaping). It's definatly related to the turbo and I can't recall it being so auiable before.

However I can't see any loose pipes or connectors and as it only produces boost under load I can't even rev the engine with me head under the hood to locate the leak.

Anyone got any cleaver ideas on how to locate where the leak is coming from?

if you have access to a smoke machine you can run the smoke in your intake pipe and find if you have any leaks.
another way is to get some pipe caps from a hardware store and put a bicicle valve in it and pressurize it then spray a soap solustion in the pipes and look for bubbles.
